Graduated from SupAéro in 1950, former director of military exports Paul Jaillard was the architect of a number of commercial successes.
Born on April 19, 1925 in Lyon, Paul Jaillard graduated from SupAéro in 1950.
He began his career as methods engineer at the Brétigny flight test center. In 1951, he joined Breguet Aviation as delegate in New York; at the same time, he also attended a training course at MIT.
In 1954, he joined the aerodynamics design office and contributed to the development of the Taon and Alizé.
In 1958, he was appointed coordinator of the Atlantic program with which Breguet took part in the NATO request for proposals for a future maritime patrol aircraft. On October 21, 1958, the Atlantic won the competition ahead of 20 competing projects. Paul Jaillard was then tasked with developing the structures necessary for industrial cooperation.
In 1961, he was appointed commercial director at Breguet and, from 1965, he set up the Franco-British Jaguar program according to the principles that had proved successful for the Atlantic.
In 1972, Paul Jaillard became director of military exports at Avions Marcel Dassault – Breguet Aviation and also took care of the cooperation aspects. With Hugues de L’Estoile, vice-president for international relations, he was the architect of a number of commercial successes. He retired in 1991.
Paul Jaillard was also an Officer of the National Order of Merit.
Former director of military exports, Paul Jaillard passed away on October 17, 2017 at the age of 92.
