The Aéro-Club de France celebrates its 120th anniversary with an airshow at Le Bourget

On April 15, 1898, soon to be 120 years ago, a collective of pilots of airships, biplanes and other aircraft formed an association to share their passion for conquering the skies. The Aéro-Club de France was born.

On April 15, 1898, soon to be 120 years ago, a collective of pilots of airships, biplanes and other aircraft formed an association to share their passion for conquering the skies. The Aéro-Club de France was born.

This enduring organization win renown through several important initiatives for the world of aviation. These include the certifications of the first heavier-than-air flight and that of a helicopter prototype. The association is also behind the attribution of a Grande Médaille award for leading figures from the aeronautics world and the creation of a prize for literary works celebrating aerial adventures.

In honor of its impressive longevity, the Aéro-Club hold a great airshow on April 15, at the Carrefour de l’Air on the site of the Air and Space Museum at Le Bourget. Admission is free and thrills are guaranteed.

Also participate in this year’s meeting on cultural dissemination and digital mediation in history, science and technology museums on Friday, April 13 from 9:30 to 17:00 and in the Exhibitors’ Lounge on Saturday, April 14. 13h30 to 18h and 15 April from 10h to 12h.
