The Academy of Air and Space (Académie de l’Air et de l’Espace – AAE) invites you to the Palais de la Découverte to attend its next conference, dedicated to the exploration of the two gas giants of our solar system: Saturn and Jupiter.

For this event, the AAE has invited two highly renowned speakers, involved in two of the most famous space exploration missions in recent years: Cassini-Huygens and JUICE.

Jean-Pierre Lebreton, the former manager of the Huygens mission at the European Space Agency (ESA), will review the major discoveries of the 13 years of exploration of Saturn and its satellites through the European-American Cassini-Huygens mission.

For his part, Olivier Witasse, project manager for the Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer (JUICE) at ESA/Estec, will explain in detail the objectives and technical, operational and human challenges of the JUICE mission, whose main goal was to study the three giant moons of Jupiter: Ganymede, Europa and Callisto. Currently in the development phase, the European mission plans to launch Ariane 5 rocket in May 2022, and start the study phase from 2030.
