In Volume 8 of “The Knights of the Sky”, entitled “Retour aux Cigognes”, the duo Tanguy and Laverdure returned to the squadron where they accomplished some of their glorious exploits. But their joy was short-lived! Shortly after this assignment, the two friends were forced to shoot down a pilot after the latter had opened fire on a highway during rush hour. Distressed, they try to understand what had driven an exemplary soldier to commit the worst crime. The two heroes then set off on the trail of nano-implants that can take control of a human being.

Laverdure”, the two aviators pursue their investigations into nano-implants and discover that all the pilots of their squadron may be affected by these formidable weapons, including themselves. In an ambiance of extreme tension, where paranoia can creep into the esprit de corps at any time, the plot verges on a fratricidal struggle. So, will Tanguy and Laverdure, heroes created in 1959 by the famous Uderzo, have to turn on each other against their will?
