Maritime Surveillance and Interventions, Search And Rescue

The Falcon inherits the exceptional performance and range of the Falcon family. Beyond the two pilots and the two mission system operators, the aircraft crew includes two observers’ stations with the main tasks of performing the visual search.

The basic configurations of a Multi-role Falcon, as the ones based on Falcon 2000, include all the necessary military maritime surveillance systems and sensors; allowing the Forces to survey, monitor and protect sea lanes of communication; national fishery’s interests; but also contributes to the interdiction of illegal activities such as piracy, smuggling, drugs trafficking; Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) patrol; Search And Rescue (SAR).

In addition to the basic configuration, the Falcon is equipped with the following features:

  • Two large conformal windows, allowing operators to widely monitor either land or water surfaces.
  • An Automatic Identification System (AIS), allowing the crew to identify and locate any asset, equipped with AIS transponders, or even analyse pictures of co-operating vessels positions and identities.
  • A Search And Rescue Direction Finder (SAR DF), capable to determine the direction of emitters, during SAR missions.
  • A SAR Door, allowing to launch SAR containers (canoes, or other emergency equipment),
  • A launching system able to drop smoke and markers,

Equipped with a full set of sensors and advanced computers such a Multi-role Falcon allows true maritime surveillance capabilities. It is particularly the case for the:

  • Detection, tracking & identification of:
    • Ships at long range
    • Small fleeting targets
    • Fast and versatile small persistent targets
  • Detection and tracking of low-flying aircraft
  • Correlation with IFF and AIS tracks
  • Correlation with ESM bearings
  • Elaboration, update and sharing of a Tactical situational “picture”
  • “Voice” and data transmission of critical information to a Command Centre.
