Here is the second episode of a new aviation-themed comic book that follows two protagonists who (despite themselves) find themselves transported back in time from the present day to 1917, on the front line between France and Germany.

In the first volume, pilot Duncan, alias “Dunk,” and scientist Lucie made the first manned MHD flight (normally reserved for supersonic missiles) and found themselves more than a hundred years in the past, in the somewhat turbulent skies of France during World War I. In this sequel, the two companions, more or less recovered from their journey through time, do their best to return to our era.

The first, Dunk, enlisted in the Lafayette Escadrille (a unit of American volunteers under French command) to gain access to aircraft; The second, Lucie, stays with her ancestors’ family, pretending to be her great-great-aunt, which allows her to work on a reconnaissance aircraft capable of triggering the mechanism that brought them back in time.

Unfortunately, the authorities are suspicious of Dunk, and Lucie’s family—one of whose members works for French military intelligence—is beginning to be just as suspicious. All this while a certain German pilot, Manfred Von Richthofen, alias the Red Baron, is causing a stir aboard his Fokker Dr.I Triplane…
