You’ve all seen them, whether during the traditional July 14 parade over the Champs-Élysées or during a trip to the French coast. They are the aircraft of the Patrouille Acrobatique de France (PAF), the famous Alpha Jets. What you have probably seen less, if at all, are their pilots and the daily life in which they are immersed.
This is the subject of this documentary by Mathieu Giombini, who followed the pilots (the Athos) of the PAF in Salon-de-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) as they prepared for their summer tour. The result? A spectacular, human insight into the heart of an elite patrol whose watchwords are rigor, passion, and solidarity.
Collecting testimonials from these spectacular military knights of the sky, often reflecting dreams come true, the director presents a succession of breathtaking images (shot in IMAX format) and confessions from children who became pilots. Until the day an accident occurs, threatening to disrupt this harmony…
