From June 5 to 8, 2025, Villacoublay Air Base 107 will host the twenty-fifth edition of the Air Raid challenge, which showcases the ground skills of French Air Force aviators.
Because sometimes, you just have to be prepared for anything! Co-organized by the Armée de l’Air et de l’Espace (for which it is listed in the blue book of training activities) and its national associations of reserve officers and non-commissioned officers, the Air Raid challenge takes place at a different base each year. After BA 133 Nancy-Ochey, it’s now the turn of BA 107 Villacoublay “sous-lieutenant René Dorme” to host the event.
Open to all BAs in mainland France, plus other French armies and invited foreign armies, the challenge is as follows: 30 hours of competition, 40 teams of 4 people (maximum 2 active personnel per team, no restriction on the number of reservists), 40 workshops (shooting, obstacle clearance, wetland activity, night raid, etc.) and the promise of a challenge that will undoubtedly be met.
In addition to the physical aspect of the challenge, there are other factors to consider, such as knowledge of the Air Force and Space, reflection, memory, skill and so on. All in all, a practical application of the military know-how of airmen, where operational reservists and active personnel push back their limits in an esprit de corps.
