Through April 26, 2026, at Théâtre La Bruyère in Paris, take flight with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry in a play that reveals all facets of the aviator.

These will likely be the final performances of this play, which has been running in the capital since January 10, 2026. Hailed time and again by critics, “Saint-Exupéry, Commander of the Birds” retraces in 70 minutes the journey of a dreamer, adventurer, steadfast friend, and one-of-a-kind thinker of the 20th century. More than just a play, the production unfolds as a human odyssey that, scene by scene, reveals to the audience the fate of a man who touched the heights and embraced the clouds—whether as a writer, pilot, adventurer, or journalist… In short, a singular soul, always in search of the absolute, even if it meant losing his life on a “beautiful” day in July 1944.

This journey, this life, is orchestrated by Benoît Lavigne, who has directed more than twenty productions, ranging from classics (Tennessee Williams, Shakespeare) to “Le Roi des Pâquerettes”, a 2022 revival of the story of Blériot—in which Mathieu Rannou starred, the very author of “Saint-Exupéry, The Commander of the Birds.”

The cast includes Franck Desmedt, who is no stranger to the stage either. He won the Molière Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2018 and was nominated in 2022 for the Molière Award for Best Solo Performance for “La Promesse de l’aube,” which chronicled the life of another writer and aviator who has long since become a legend: Romain Gary. It’s not out of the question that this new performance might earn him, at the very least, another nomination…
