Watch the Web TV interview with Jean-Louis Montel, Senior Advisor to the President, International, as he presents the ongoing development of the Rafale toward compliance with the F4 standard.
Notified in December 2018, the F4 standard will be finalized in 2024. Some functions will be available in 2022.
It features innovative connectivity solutions that will optimize the Rafale’s effectiveness in network-centric warfare. It also includes the development of sensors (radar and “optronique secteur frontal (OSF)”, a long-range optoelectronics system) and helmet-mounted display capability.
New weapons (Mica NG, 1,000 kg AASM) will also be integrated. In addition, this standard will include a new prognostic and diagnostic assistance system that will introduce predictive maintenance capabilities.
Other maintenance optimizations are also planned, with solutions based on Big Data and artificial intelligence. Lastly, the Rafale will be equipped with a new engine computer.
