Showbiz stars, such as the singer Matt Pokora, and well-known athletes, such as the 1998 world champions Bixente Lizarazu and Christian Karembeu, were invited to this sporting event, which was organized to benefit wounded soldiers and families in mourning following the loss of a loved one in combat.

Manuel Valls, the French Prime Minister, participated in the match, changing teams during halftime. Also attending this initiative were Jean-Yves le Drian, Minister of Defense, Bernard Cazeneuve, Minister of the Interior, and General Pierre de Villiers, Chief of the Defense Staff. They paid tribute to, in the words of the Minister of Defense, “The men and women who put their lives and their physical integrity on the line to protect our country.”
