The 2026 Geopolitics Book Award was presented to Céline Marangé for her book *La Guerre d’Europe a commencé* (The War in Europe Has Begun), published by Éditions Les Arènes in 2026.
(Paris, June 18, 2026) – The 2026 Geopolitics Book Award was presented to Céline Marangé for her book *La Guerre d’Europe a commencé* (The War in Europe Has Begun), published by Éditions Les Arènes in 2026. A special jury prize was also awarded to Françoise Thom for her body of work and, more specifically, for her essay *La Guerre totale de Vladimir Poutine* (Vladimir Putin’s Total War), published by Éditions À L’Est de Brest-Litovsk in 2026.
Held under the patronage of Catherine Vautrin, Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs, this 13th edition of the Geopolitics Book Award, sponsored by Dassault Aviation, took place on June 17 at the Hôtel Dassault, in the presence of Alice Rufo, Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs. The ceremony was presided over by Jean-Yves Le Drian, Personal Representative of the President of the Republic to Lebanon, former Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, and former Minister of Defense, and Éric Trappier, Chairman of the Marcel Dassault Industrial Group and Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation.
Created in 2013 by Jean-Yves Le Drian, then Minister of Defense, Cédric Lewandowski, Vice President of Lire la Société, and Luce Perrot, Founding President of Lire la Société, the Geopolitics Book Award recognizes a work (study, essay, biography, etc.) that succeeds in making geopolitical and strategic issues accessible to a broader audience. Its aim is to enable a broad, non-specialized French and Francophone audience to better understand the major international challenges defining our era. The jury’s special prize is intended to highlight an exceptional book, a body of work, or a translated work.
Under the patronage of the renowned geographer and professor Yves Lacoste, the jury is composed of senior political and military officials, researchers, experts, academics, and journalists. It is co-chaired by Jean-Yves Le Drian, Éric Trappier, and Cédric Lewandowski.
