This book looks back at the life of Amelia Earhart and the mystery that continues to surround her disappearance in July 1937 in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Amelia Earhart, a true celebrity of her time! And with good reason, considering the career path of this outstanding aviatrix, who was predestined to become a nurse and social worker – she was also a journalist, writer, and women’s rights activist. First flight at the age of 23 in 1920, altitude record (4,300 meters) for a female aviator in 1922, first woman to complete a transatlantic flight in 1928 (with a crew), first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932, first to fly between Hawaii and California… All in all, one of the most impressive records in aviation, covered by the press of the time who were totally dazzled by her exploits!

But the young woman didn’t want to leave it at that and decided to conquer the world by flying around it! To do so, she opted for an eastbound circumnavigation of the globe, at the controls of a Lockheed L-10 Electra and with pilot Fred Noonan. Amelia Earhart covered some 35,000 kilometers with several stopovers before disappearing in the middle of the Pacific Ocean – just 11,000 km from the American coast.

Despite a large number of expeditions, to this day no certainty can be established about the disappearance of the aircraft and its two occupants. This book tells the story of this extraordinary destiny and an unsolved mystery…
