The book Georges Guynemer immerses you in the incredible life of this ace of aces, the celebrated pilot who served in the French Army during World War I.

In just three years as a fighter pilot, George Guynemer became a legend.  After enlisting voluntarily, he quickly proved his extraordinary skill, becoming the first aviator to be mentioned in the Grand Quartier Général’s official statement in February 1916. A captain in French aviation, he scored more than 53 approved victories in aerial combat, survived a number of crashes, and secured the title of most victorious WWI fighter unit for his squadron.

Drawing on numerous archives, George Guynemer offers a well-documented portrayal of the early days of French aviation and the making of this legendary pilot, a national icon and symbol of courage and determination.
