Photographer Alain Ernoult presents “Mad about Wings” (Fou d’Ailes), published by La Martinière, a unique account of the richness and diversity of the aeronautics world.
Seeking to pay homage to all the “adventurers of the sky”, this aviation enthusiast has dug deep in his vast stock of photographs from 3,000 hours of flight photography, to select 450 stunning images.
In all terrains, and sometimes in extreme conditions, Alain Ernoult has taken to the skies with numerous aircraft: propeller planes, fighter aircraft, passenger planes, helicopters, and even the world’s most famous flight teams, including the Patrouille de France.
The photographer also shares detailed memories of these shots, which are far from improvised. He juxtaposes some of the photographs with preparatory sketches: the perfect illustration of his meticulous preliminary work and the importance of the relationship between pilot and photographer.
