In post-war America, Buck and his sidekicks are working on a movie set that has seen a suspicious number of incidents.

The year is 1947. American movie maker, aviator and aircraft manufacturer Howard Hughes (portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s biopic “The Aviator”) is producing a feature film for which he needs to hire real fighter pilots. While Buck Danny and his ever-present buddies Tumbler and Tuckson are among the lucky ones selected, the shoot is marred by numerous incidents. Against this unsettling backdrop, the film crew soon sees the CIA arrive on the set…

It soon becomes apparent that the culprit is the Red Shadow (l’Ombre rouge), a master spy. However, this is a tricky enemy to figure out, and therefore hard to catch. Buck Danny, Tumbler and Tuckson set off in pursuit, but it’s a complex game involving aviation, filmmaking and espionage… an explosive mix that is typical of the post-World War II years!
