Éditions Dupuis continues to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the famous Buck Danny series, by publishing the second and final part of Blackbirds ( Les oiseaux noirs ), the last story written by Jean-Michel Charlier.

Begun in late 1988 by the Charlier-Bergèse duo, the Blackbirds (Les Oiseaux Noirs) series came to an abrupt halt after the death of the celebrated writer. Nearly 30 years later, the illustrator, Francis Bergèse, picked up the 16 pages already written, to complete the publication of the first part.

For this second and final volume, illustrator Patrice Buendia (“Tanguy & Laverdure Classic”) and writer Frédéric Zumbiehl (“Buck Danny,” “Buck Danny Classic”) have created an original story, written like a style exercise in tribute to Jean-Michel Charlier.

After the failure of the first espionage mission by Buck, Tumb and Sonny, the military puts Tumb behind the controls of a Blackbird specially adapted for this type of mission. Unfortunately, this second mission also fails, and the Russians successfully complete the development of a revolutionary space combat system. This new weapon could strike an unprecedented blow against the North American forces, so Buck and his friends need to act fast…
