Volume 1 of the new series “La Fille de l’Air” (Girl of the Air) is the first collaboration between author Pascal Davoz and cartoonist Yves Plateau. It tells the extraordinary story of young Marie Marillac.

The story, which takes place in 1914, tells the tale of a young French Army nurse who wants to move into a career in aviation and become a pilot. Despite the law at the time banning female pilots, this first volume describes our young heroine’s fierce and passionate battle to fulfill her dream.

This comic book is also a chance to rediscover air warfare from 1914-1918, with unbelievable images of aircraft from the time by Yves Plateau, whose impressive work has appeared in volumes of the “Patrouilles aériennes acrobatiques” (Aerobatics Teams) and “Histoires de Pilotes” (History of Pilots) series.
