The story in volume 7 follows on directly from the previous installment. Frédéric Zumbiehl, Patrice Buendia and Sébastien Philippe take you to the heart of a conflict in the Middle East, featuring a Messerschmitt flight.
In “Diamants de sable” (“Sand Diamonds”), with its many flight scenes, Tanguy and Laverdure were rushed aboard their Mirage 2000N fighters to take part in an operation simulating the response to a nuclear attack in the kingdom of Dahman. However, Dahman was on the brink of war against Nijaq, a neighboring terrorist state and a fundamentalist sect.
Volume 7 picks up where volume 6 left off: when Laverdure’s plane comes crashing down in the sand. He is rescued by a beautiful Bedouin chieftess named Labba, who helps him tow his Mirage to an airport to be repaired. Against a background of betrayals in the kingdom, he meets Tanguy heading for the capital of Dahman, for a finale featuring a series of combats, including against paratroopers. But first he needs to fly over a country bordering on chaos in a Messerschmitt BF 108: a German four-seater, single-engine aircraft dating back to World War II.
Following on from Volume 6 of “Chevaliers du ciel” (Knights of the Skies), this story is a delight for anyone who loves comic books, aviation and adventures of all kinds. No reader could be left unimpressed by the inspired ideas of authors Frédéric Zumbiehl and Patrice Buendia, or the artwork of Sébastien Philippe, whose talent truly brings the series to life. Volumes 6 and 7 are the perfect presents to go under the Christmas tree!
