To celebrate 70 years of the renowned Buck Danny series, Editions Dupuis is publishing “Les Oiseaux Noirs,” the first episode of the last story written by Jean-Michel Charlier.

Begun in late 1988 by the Charlier-Bergèse duo, the creation of “Oiseaux Noirs” came to an abrupt halt upon the death of the celebrated writer. Nearly 30 years later, the illustrator, Francis Bergèse, picked up the 16 pages already written and undertook to complete this final story.

This episode takes us to the height of the Cold War, where Buck and Sonny Tumbler, who have just arrived at Kadena Air Base in Japan, are tasked with spying on suspicious activities observed in the northeastern USSR. The Russians are attempting to develop a new secret weapon capable of ensuring their total supremacy.
