Two French cities, Lyon and Toulouse, are hosting until spring and summer next year a double exhibition dedicated to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry: the man and, of course, the aviator.
While a sumptuous comic book devoted to his life has just been published, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry will also be honored with a double exhibition to mark the 120th anniversary of his birth. This truly exceptional event, entitled “Antoine de Saint-Exupéry – a Little Prince among Men”, is taking place in two cities: in Lyon, where the navigator was born, and in Toulouse, where his flying career literally took off. Here’s what is in store for you: activities, works, anecdotes, along with workshops, get-togethers, and much more. These two complementary exhibitions, both cultural and educational, revisit at length the exciting world of the pilot-explorer-writer-journalist-and more!
In Lyon, at La Sucrière (on the banks of the Saône, in the Confluence district), visitors are invited to plunge into the life and work of the man of letters. One of the events that takes us deeper into his personal life is the very original, and of course imaginary, meeting between the character of the “Little Prince” and his author. Not to mention personal items, photos and other manuscripts unveiled to the public for the very first time!
In Toulouse, at the Envol des Pionniers museum (in the Montaudran district), it is “Saint-Ex” the aviator who is in the spotlight. We can thus gaze at a full-size replica of the Salmson 2A2, aboard which he flew when he worked for Aéropostale. Each stage of his life is showcased alongside a legendary aircraft from the period. Not to mention the superb sculptures by artist Arnaud Nazare-Aga, which in their own right form an “exhibition within the exhibition”.
