In its January 2016 issue, the specialized aeromodelling magazine RC Pilot has an in-depth special report about Stephan Laurens, a distinguished former pilot, and his father Francis, who have designed two superb small-scale reproductions of the Alpha Jet.
The magazine provides detailed coverage of the colossal effort that was required to construct these two models of the symbolic Alpha Jet. This aircraft was built jointly by Dassault Aviation and Breguet. With a combination of both technical and physical prowess, the Laurens constantly demonstrated their ingenuity in the face of the different challenges that punctuated the project: installing the Jets-Munt VT80 engines, designing the landing gear, constructing the wings in carbon fiber, installing the air brakes, and the meticulous detailing of the cockpit…
Mission accomplished for these two engineers, who achieved an exceptional level of realism, and who went to the Salon-de-Provence Air Base to present their small-scale models alongside aircraft from the Patrouille de France.
Stephan and Francis Laurens are now working on a third small-scale Alpha Jet model, even more detailed and optimized, which they will present at the next Jet World Masters.
