The July 2019 edition of “Piloter” magazine celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Rafale Solo Display (RSD), created in 2009 to showcase spectacular demonstrations and to represent the unique expertise of the French Air Force.
In this issue, you will find a feature on the key players who have influenced the history of the RSD, and on its legendary aircraft: the Rafale.
“Piloter” also dedicates a long-form article to the current RSD demonstrator pilot, Captain Sébastien Nativel, known as Babouc, and recounts his flight of April 26, 2019 which was part of the RSD 10th anniversary celebrations organized by the French Air Force at the 113 air base in Saint-Dizier.
On that day, although he was entering his second year as a demonstrator pilot, Babouc was under some additional pressure. Why? Many of his RSD predecessors were in the crowd, accompanied by the greatest test pilots in the history of the Rafale. Among them were: Guy Mitaux-Maurouard (Rafale A), and Yves Kerhervé and Éric Gérard (Rafale M), as well as Philippe Duchateau, Chief Flight Test Pilot at Dassault Aviation.
