On March 21, 2019, the musée d’Aquitaine celebrated the opening of a new room devoted to the city of Bordeaux in the 20th and 21st centuries. This new space provides an excellent overview of the wide variety of activities in Bordeaux, marked by the rise of the aeronautics and aerospace industry.

There are many models of aircraft and rockets to admire over the course of your visit. You are also welcome to attend the conference on May 14, 2019, on the development of the space industry in Aquitaine from 1959 to the present day.

This presentation offers a fine tribute to emblems of aeronautics, such as the “Diamant” rocket, a satellite launcher used to put the first French satellite into orbit in 1965, or the European launcher “Ariane 6”, scheduled to take off for the first time in 2020…

Dassault Aviation has also contributed to the creation of this new room via the timeline and the interactive map of ASD sites in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Models of the Falcon 8X and the Rafale C (1/20th the size of the real aircraft) can also be seen on display in the museum.
