Promoted to Deputy CEO (1976), Jacques Estèbe appointed Vice-President for Industrial and Social Affairs in 1986.
Jacques Estèbe, Dassault Aviation’s former Vice-President for Industrial and Social Affairs, passed away on March 9, 2019, aged 94.
Born on January 25, 1925, he joined the Higher Institute of Aeronautics and Space (SupAéro) in 1947. He began his career with Turbomeca, before being recruited by Marcel Dassault in 1949.
Jacques Estèbe, along with Paul Chassagne, formed the design office in Mérignac which designed the MD 311 and 312 Flamant, and also launched series production and coordinated the manufacturing process for the Étendard IV.
He was appointed Industrial Director for the Mystère-Falcon 20 contract in 1963, and led the teams at Dassault Mérignac and Sud Aviation, Saint-Nazaire, where all of the fuselages were built.
As Deputy Director (1965), then Director of the Mérignac institution (1967), he led the roll out of the Mercure 01 in 1971.
He was promoted to Deputy CEO (1976), and appointed Vice-President for Industrial and Social Affairs when Serge Dassault became Chairman and CEO in 1986. He held this position up until his retirement in 1989.
