In a splendid mountainous setting, enjoy the Alpe d’Huez air show on Sunday, August 21.
Alpe d’Huez has its ski slopes, its film festival, its Tour de France stage, and also its air show! Although it is not one of the most famous summer events, the Air Festival is well worth the detour owing to a few unique features. These include a demonstration in the mountains and at low altitude by the A400, transport aircraft for the French Air and Space Force, as well as a performance by Mélanie Astles, British ace aerobatics pilot.
But that’s not all! Whatever you do, don’t miss the publicized Wingwalker demonstration on a Stearman. There will also be a civil security helicopter in attendance at the event, where first flights on board light aircraft, helicopters or even microlights will also be offered.
Lastly, as the icing on the cake, make sure you don’t miss the demonstration by the Patrouille de France Alpha Jets, with acrobatic maneuvers on the mountainside that will exhilarate purists and newbies alike.
