For this “Classic” from the franchise, the two aviators in the French Air Force find themselves confronted with a very mysterious situation at an air base in la Meuse.

The action takes place in the early 1960s, just after the Berlin wall was erected. As part of an exchange with Canadian pilots at the Marville air base (Canadian troops were stationed there until 1967), Tanguy and Laverdure share their experiences with the men visiting from the other side of the Atlantic for joint maneuvers that are quite complex.

Soon, a Canadian pilot is invited to an encounter in the air, in commemoration of the Korean War. If he flees, his plane will be shot down. Who is behind the attack? A pilot on board a North American F-86 Sabre – an aircraft that gained its reputation during the Korean War, since it could compete with the MIG-15s sent by the Soviets during this period.

Further clouding the mystery surrounding these attacks, the aircraft in question bears the Jolly Roger. But the fact that the Canadian aviator does not explain why he was flying when his plane was shot down intrigues Tanguy and Laverdure. This also arouses the suspicion of captain Flèche, an inspector in the French police force. It appears as though the Korean War isn’t over for everyone…
