In case you missed the news, now you’re all caught up! On the sidelines of the second Congress of Fighter Aviation, which was held in November at Le Bourget, the Patrouille de France welcomed a new honorary member…

It was just a short sentence that announced the news, shared on Twitter by General Stéphane Mille, Chief of Staff of the Air and Space Force: “A new honorary member has joined the community of French fighter pilots. Thank you, Tom Cruise, for flying with the Patrouille de France and sharing our values around world.”

At the 2022 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the American actor and film producer (“Jack Reacher”, “Mission Impossible”, “Interview with a Vampire” and more), who was in attendance to present “Top Gun: Maverick” (directed by Joseph Kosinski), had already been honored by the Patrouille de France. To celebrate the release of the film and the presence of the actor, the tricolor Alpha Jets put on a display in the skies over the Croisette, which didn’t fail to excite the global box-office star to the highest degree.

Thrilled with the announcement, but unable to be there in person due to filming of the next “Mission Impossible” movie in South Africa, the actor who plays agent Ethan Hunt posted a video to thank the members of the Patrouille de France. “I am proud to become an honorary member of the French fighter pilot community […] It is a real privilege for me to become a part of your team”.

Before finishing with the classic line: “Et à la chasse!” In French, no less!
