Magazine. “Le Fana de l’Aviation” No. 637

In this final edition of 2022, the magazine is going in a vintage direction, with a profile on a 1930s seaplane, a look at a First World War ace, and even a (very) special look at the Mirage III of the 1980s.

In this final edition of 2022, the magazine is going in a vintage direction, with a profile on a 1930s seaplane, a look at a First World War ace, and even a (very) special look at the Mirage III of the 1980s.

For this closing issue of the 2022 year, “Le Fana de l’Aviation” is offering an in-depth look at a largely forgotten aircraft (and some of its contemporaries). The aircraft in question is the Blohm & Voss Ha 139, a four-motor seaplane developed by Germany (in collaboration with Lufthansa) in 1936, as a commercial plane to help European nations conquer – and cross – the Atlantic.

The monthly magazine also takes a look at a little-known French hero of the First World War, in the shape of Lionel de Marmier, a distinguished pilot in the war effort (six certified victories) and in the resistance for Free France between 1939 and 1945. Also included, a focus on aviation and the environment, with facts and figures throughout.

Finally, the magazine tells the story of the Dassault Mirage IIIEX (a variation of the Mirage III), a unique experimental prototype that first took to the air in 1988 and which helped modernize many squadrons. Without forgetting a piece on the Super Frelon, and all other usual features. Happy reading – and our best wishes in advance to all readers of the magazine!
