Testimonials from pilots, technical descriptions… For this special issue published in the modern aircraft collection of “Le Fana de l’Aviation”, the magazine dissects the ongoing epic of the Mirage 2000C.
Technology, export, equipment, operation… In other words, a spotlight on the rapid development of the Mirage 2000C: this is the menu concocted by journalist and writer Frédéric Lert, lead editor of this special issue! To do this, the flight plan for this exceptional publication was split into four parts.
The first part focuses on the technological changes that accompanied the Mirage 2000 as well as the gradual installation of the aircraft on French air bases, such as in Mont-de-Marsan, Dijon, and Djibouti. It also features a focus on the Sharko Fox patrol. In the second part of this special edition, Frédéric Lert focuses on the export of the aircraft, especially to the air fleets of Greece and Brazil. As of now, more than 250 Mirage 2000 have been exported.
The third part is dedicated to the equipment of the aircraft, in particular the Matra R530 missile and its successor, the Matra R Magic (I and II), or the use of electronic countermeasures integrated for the first time into a French aircraft to ensure its protection.
Finally, the fourth and final chapter of this publication relates the hours spent by the aircraft in combat, with the baptism by fire of the Mirage 2000C during the first Gulf War (with a focus on the mechanical part of this operation), but also in the former Yugoslavia or during foreign operations in Africa. In short, everything to delight those who love an aircraft that continues to be Dassault Aviation’s pride!
